KELLOGG — Gerald Edwin Flanagan, 85, of Kellogg passed away Friday afternoon, Oct. 5, 2007, at the Iowa Veteran’s Home in Marshalltown. Pence-Reese Funeral Home in Newton is handling the arrangements.

Gerald was born July 3, 1922, in Green City, Mo., the son of Richard Wayne and Martha Deloma (Rouse) Flanagan. He attended school in the Green City, Mo. area. He served his country with the United States Navy during World War II as a Seaman First Class. It was from there he moved to the Newton and Kellogg areas. Gerald was employed by the Maytag Company as a steam press operator for 34 years, retiring in 1976.

On Nov. 1, 1952, Gerald was united in marriage with Doris H. Doud in Grinnell. He was a member of the Newton First Southern Baptist Church and the Local Union #997. He enjoyed his family and friends.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Pence-Reese Funeral Home in Newton. Burial will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery in Newton. Memorials to the First Southern Baptist Church in Newton or Kellogg Ambulance and Fire Department are being suggested.

Visitation will be today after 2 p.m. with the family present from 6 until 7:30 p.m. today at the Pence-Reese Funeral Home.

Gerald is survived by his wife, Doris of Kellogg; two sons, Kenneth (Antonia) Flanagan and Guy “Bill” (Pam) Doud, all of Kellogg; two daughters, Barbara Rahimi of Springfield, Mo., and Patricia (Russell) Miller of Marshalltown; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; his brother and sisters, Jake (Doris) Flanagan of Newton, Vita Jean Cleous of Wichita, Kan., Ruth Griffin of Macon, Mo., Rose (Ralph) Ravencraft of Hallsville, Mo., Betty Smith of Kirksville, Mo., and Deloris (Charles) Tabor of Macon, Mo.; many nephews and nieces; as well as numerous good neighbors and friends.
