COLFAX — William Hollis “Billy” Clutter of Colfax passed away at his home on Aug. 15, 2007. Billy was born Oct. 7, 1950, in Warsaw, Ind., to Alma LaVerne and William Clayton Clutter.

He was preceded in death by his parents;one sister, Judy; one nephew, John; and his dog, DizzyDog.

Billy graduated from Wawasee High School, in Syracuse, Ind., in 1969. He followed in his dad’s footsteps and became an over-the-road truck driver for over 30 years. His CB handle was “Featherfoot”. He and his 1975 Peterbilt and DizzyDog traveled millions of miles … trucking was Billy’s love. He drove for Vitalus Trucking, Tepoel, Roseway, Billy Clutter Trucking and Cross Country. He retired from driving and became a logistics broker for Cross Country and Wylie.

In 2004, Billy started working as a broker for R.H. Hummer Jr. Inc. Hummer Logistics of Williamsburg. He was employed there at the time of his death, where he was lovingly referred to as “Trash Can Billy”.

Billy was a member of the Central Iowa Blues Society, a season ticket holder at the Iowa Speedway and a die-hard NASCAR fan.

He is survived by two brothers, John (Delores) Clutter of Libertyville, Ill., and Jay (Judy) Clutter of North Webster, Ind.; his sister, Joyce (Don) Logan of Pacific Grove, Calif.; his nieces, Dyanne Tracy of Auburn Hills and Beaver Island, Mich. and Michelle Brandt and her daughters Holly (who was named for Billy - his middle name) and Hope of Ft. Wayne, Ind.; his nephew, Clay “Bill” (Linda) Clutter and their daughter, Erin of Petoskey, Mich., Dan (Susan) Tracy and their son, Sean of Naperville, Ill.; and his special “brother” David (Kathy) Tracy of Ft. Wayne, Ind. He is also survived by his companion Charla Jean Johnson, his dog, Duesenberg, and his cat, Chase.

His extended family included many life long friends, who were always there to lend a helping hand. Billy could be anywhere in the USA and run into an old trucking buddy or friend.

Billy’s family would especially like to thank Ron Hummer and all of his co-workers at R.H. Hummer for being his second family and for their care and concern over the last three years. Special thanks to Ronnie Jones for taking care of the house on “Bill’s Hill”. Billy was very proud of his home and all of his trees and flowers. Billy referred to himself as a “Dinosaur”, always doing things his way and never being politically correct.

A celebration of Billy’s life will be held at the Comfort Inn of Colfax on Sept. 15, 2007, from 5 to 8 p.m.

Condolences may be sent to CIBS, PO Box 13016, Des Moines 50310, and will be shared with family and friends at the celebration. Billy’s cremated remains will be scattered at places he loved and he will be interred in the family plot in Mentone, Ind., later in September on a date to be announced.
