Blythe Wilma Clapper, 90, of Newton, formerly of Baxter, died Monday, Oct. 8, 2007, at the Monarch Wing of Skiff Hospital in Newton.

A memorial service celebrating her life will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Congregational United Church of Christ in Baxter. She will be laid to rest in the Restland Cemetery at Baxter with a time of fellowship at the church hall following the committal service. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the memorial service.

Memorials may be directed to the Baxter Congregational Church of Christ or the Monarch Wing.

Blythe was born on Oct. 14, 1916, to Lee and Virgil (Smith) Henneman in rural Baxter. She was raised in the area and graduated from Baxter High School. She married Wilbert Clapper on July 11, 1935, in Newton. She was a farm wife, a member of the Congregational United Church of Christ in Baxter, a long time member of the Baxter Garden Club, and was a judge for numerous flower shows. She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her family was very precious to her.

Blythe leaves behind three sons, Gary (Neva) of Surprise, Ariz., Dennis (Lena) Clapper of Rhodes and David (Rita) of Duluth, Minn. Survivors also include six grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; one daughter; and three sisters.
