WINDSOR HEIGHTS — Barbara A. Boeckelmann, 78, of Windsor Heights, formerly of Newton, died Sunday, Aug. 5, 2007, at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf. Per her request, cremation rites were accorded. A memorial service will be held Saturday, Aug. 18, 2007, at 10 a.m. at the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Urbandale. Memorials may be made to the Hospice of Central Iowa or Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Urbandale. The Runge Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements.

Barbara was born Nov. 10, 1928, in Moravia, the daughter of Paul and Icel (Hudgens) Broshar. She was united in marriage to Arthur Boeckelmann on Nov. 24, 1949, in Moravia; he preceded her in death on March 21, 2006.

Barbara was a loving homemaker. She and her husband, Arthur, moved to the Des Moines area in 1991 after he retired from The Vernon Company. Together they formed the BABCO International Company, an advertising specialty company. Their business allowed them to travel overseas to the Orient which they greatly enjoyed.

Those left to honor her memory include one son, Robert “Scott” Boeckelmann and his fiancé, Chris Stolba of Cedar Rapids; one daughter, JoEllen (Loren) Erickson of Durant; three grandchildren: Jamie (Toni) Dean of Durant, Jill Mohr of Ottumwa, and Emily Boeckelmann of Walford; two great-grandchildren, Christopher and Colyn Dean of Durant; one sister, JoEllen (Arnold) Cutkomp of Columbus Junction; and two sisters-in-law, Jean Boeckelmann of St. Louis, Mo. and Doris Broshar of Webster City.

Her parents; husband, Arthur; and one brother, Ronald “Skip” Broshar preceded her in death.
