Judy A. (Mrs. Ronald) Bishop, 73, of Newton died Tuesday Oct. 30, 2007, at the Hospice of Jasper County’s Monarch Wing at Skiff Medical Center in Newton.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton. The Rev. Gary Marzolf of the First United Methodist Church in Newton will officiate. Burial will be in the Newton Union Cemetery in Newton. Family will greet friends from 6 until 8 p.m. tonight at the funeral home.

Memorials to the Newton Library may be left at the funeral home.

Born Aug. 17, 1934, in Pushmataha County, Okla., Judy was the daughter of Clovis and Bernice (McKinney) Barnes. She had lived in Newton since 1943, graduating from Newton Senior High School in 1952. On Oct. 31, 1953, she was united in marriage with Ronald L. Bishop in Newton.

Judy retired in 1998 from Newton Manufacturing where she had worked as a Customer Service Representative. She had worked the last 22 years at Wal-Mart. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Newton Elks Club. Judy loved to read. She also enjoyed her Thursday Night Porch Group, her Cousins Breakfast Group and going on cruises with her friends.

Survivors include her two sons, Todd Bishop of Des Moines and Phil (Staci) Bishop of Urbandale; three daughters, Joni (Keith) Dean of Raleigh, N.C., Jill (Tom) Eaton of Marshalltown, and Jana (David) Clevenger of Point Pleasant, N.J.; 10 grandchildren, Dylan, Tanner, Davison, Zachary and Kyle Bishop, Jason LaTorre, Jennifer (Jason) Jones, Jeffrey Eaton, Christine and Chelsey Clevenger; two great-grandchildren, Carter and Avery Jones; her mother, Bernice Kubli of Newton; and one stepbrother, Gene (Jolene) Kubli of Moravia.

She was preceded in death by her father, Clovis Barnes and her husband, Ronald, in 1996.
