Denice Lynn Barnes, 40, of Newton, died Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2007.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Howard Street Christian Church of Colfax with burial following at McKeever Cemetery north of Colfax.

Visitation for Denice will be held on Sunday from 2 to 6 p.m. at Howard Street Christian Church of Colfax.

Coburn Funeral Homes in Colfax is handilng the services.

The daughter of Alfred A. Retman and Lois Miller Young, Denice was born on August 27, 1967 at Forest City, Arkansas. Denice was a graduate of the Class of 1985 from Colfax High School. Denice was united in marriage with Dale Barnes on December 17, 1993 at Newton. Denice will be fondly remembered for her kind smile, sense of humor, cooking, and love for decorating. She enjoyed her work at Wal-Mart and also spent time working for Iowa Telecom. Denice was a member of the Howard Street Christian Church.

Those left to honor her memory are her husband Dale and son Bryan. Those also left to honor her memory are her brothers Mike (Kathy) Retman of Colfax; Craig (Shawn) Retman of Newton; sister Debbie (Lance) Yount of Centerville, OH; her mother, Lois Young of Newton; and in-laws Dalena and Donnie Lewis; Diane and Roger Smith of Colfax; Damian West; Dave and Sandy West of Des Moines; and many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. Denice was preceded in death by her father Alfred Retman, brother Steve Retman, and niece Bobbi Jo Mackenzie.
