PELLA - Ralph G. Kuiper, 87, a resident of Pella Manor in Pella since 1971, and former resident of Jasper County, died Saturday, Feb. 17, at the Manor.

Funeral services will e held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the First Reformed Church in Pella.

The Rev. Edward G. Velduizen and the Rev. Kenneth A. Dykstra, pastor of the church, and the Rev. Harold L. Heimstra of Yankton, S.D., will conduct services. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Pella.

The Rev. Cornie Reynen, pastor of the church, will conduct family prayer services at 1:15 p.m. Tuesday at the church.

Friends may call at Van Dyk-Duven Funeral Home in Pella today. Visitation with the family will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions to Hospice of Pella will be accepted.

Survivors are his wife, Nellie; a son, Gerald L. of Pella; two daughters, Violet R. (Mrs. Arvin) Boot of Pella and Norma J. (Mrs. Harold L.) Hiemstra of Yankton, S.D.; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and three brothers, Andrew G. and Harry G., both of Pella, and Dick of Otley.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, a brother, Gradus, and two grandchildren.

Mr. Kuiper, a member and former elder of the First Reformed Church in Pella, was active in the Dutch Masters Auto Club of Pella.

The son of Gerrit R. and Nellie Kyn Kuiper, he was born Aug. 30, 1902 near Monroe and was educated at the Liberty Corner country grade school near Otley.

He was married to Nellie Van Den Berg Jan. 8, 1929 in Fifield.

Mr. Kuiper, a resident of Pella since 1971, had farmed west of Pella until 1936 when he moved north of Pella where he was a cattle feeder and buyer. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, February 1990
