Ruth I. Koehn, 69, of Newton died of cancer Friday at Skiff Medical Center. Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Our Savior Lutheran Church, with burial in Victor memorial Cemetery.

Mrs. Koehn was born in Homestead and moved to Newton in 1991 after living in Maxwell, Deep River and Keswick. She and her husband farmed and formerly operated Country Side Repair in Deep River. She also had been employed by Pella Products and the Ankeny Schools dietary department. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Newton, where she had taught Sunday School several years.

Among survivors are three daughters, Dorothy Sanders of Maxwell, Donna Rothstein of New Richland, Minn., and Debra Liegel of Richland, Wis.; two brothers, Paul Trimpe of Williamsburg and Raymond Trimpe of Cedar Rapids; six sisters, Luella Burnes of Cedar Rapids, Viola Lemon of Davenport, Edna Wetjen and Lorena Moennich, both of Homestead, and Ida Strunk and Esther Huedepohl, both of Williamsburg; and five grandchildren.

Ruth I. Koehn

Ruth I. Trimpe Koehn, 69, of 915 W. 2nd St. S., a resident of Newton since 1991, died today, Dec. 2, at Skiff Medical Center of cancer.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Our Savior Lutheran Church.

The Rev. David L. Meyer, pastor of the Grace Lutheran Church, will conduct services.

Burial will be in Victor Memorial Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Wallace-Pence Funeral Home after noon Saturday and visitation with the family will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Survivors are three daughters, Dorothy (Mrs. Carmen) Sanders of Maxwell, Donna (Mrs. Wayne) Rothstein of New Richland, Minn., and Debra (Mrs. Darrin) Liegel of Richland, Wis.; and five grandchildren.

Also surviving are two brothers, Paul Trimpe of Williamsburg and Raymond Trimpe of Cedar Rapids; and six sisters, Edna Wetjen and Lorena (Mrs. Arnold) Moennich, both of Homestead, Ada Strunk and Esther (Mrs. Harvey) Huedepohl, both of Williamsburg, Luella Burnes of Cedar Rapids and Viola Lemon of Davenport.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Melvin, Sept. 9, 1994, two grandsons, and two brothers, Alfred and Arnold Trimpe.

Mrs. Koehn, who was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church and Ladies Aid, was very active in the church and taught Sunday school for several years.

She was employed by Pella Products, Ankeny Schools in the dietary department and helped her husband farm and start the Country Side Repair business in Deep River.

The daughter of Otto and Rosella Von Ahsen Trimpe, she was born Jan. 12, 1925 in Homestead and attended St. John Lutheran School in Homestead.

She was married to Melvin A. Koehn Feb. 9, 1947 in Homestead.

Mrs. Koehn had farmed near Keswick for 32 years, had moved to Deep River in 1978 and to rural Maxwell in 1986, prior to moving to Newton. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, December 1994.
