Graveside rites for Gladys Irene Pope Adams, 86, a resident of Newton Care Center since 1986, were held Friday, Nov. 20, at the Laurel Hill Cemetery in Des Moines.

Van Dyk-Duven Funeral Home in Pella handled arrangements.

She died Thursday at the center.

Surviving is a sister, Mrs. Violet Rushing of Des Moines.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Pearl, two infant children, her parents, five sisters and a brother.

The daughter of Clyde and Lillie Mc Donald Pope, she was born Nov. 11, 1906 near Knoxville.

She was married to Arthur Pearl Adams and the couple resided in Knoxville and later in Des Moines. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, November 1992
