Rex H. Swanson

Rex H. Swanson, 90, of 1111 N. 11th Ave. E., a resident of Newton since 1982, died Saturday morning, Jan. 22, at Nelson Manor Nursing Home of heart failure.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Wallace-Pence Funeral Home.

The Rev. Daryl Pals, pastor of the St. Luke United Methodist Church, will conduct services. Burial will be in Oakdale Cemetery in Adel.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. today and visitation with the family will be held from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials in his name will be accepted.

Survivors are two sisters, Grace Cotter of Newton and Clara Dash of Lakewood, Colo.; and many nieces and nephews, including Jeanne (Mrs. Larry) Cotter of Newton.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Elmer, and two sisters, Leona Wilson and Olive Franker.

Mr. Swanson was a farmer near Greenfield until retiring in 1974 due to ill health.

The son of Otto and Lillie Chase Swanson, he was born March 28, 1903 in Stuart.
