MINGO - Funeral services for Forest K. "Frosty" Borts, 68, of Rt. 1, Box 107, Mingo, a lifelong resident of Jasper County, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 1, at the Mingo United Methodist Church.

The Rev. Bob Gamble, pastor of the church, will conduct services. Burial will be in Ashton Chapel Cemetery north of Mingo.

Friends may call after noon today at the Wallace-Pence Funeral Home in Newton.

Visitation with the family will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Borts died Sunday evening of complications of a cranial aneurysm at the Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines.

Survivors are his wife, Mildred; two sons and daughters-in-law, Kevin and Janet of Mingo and Rick and Mary Kay of Altoona; a daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Ross Ruggless of Altoona; and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Merle and Wesley, and two sisters, Belva Griggs and Alta Aust.

He was a member of the Mingo United Methodist Church and the American Legion Cyclops Post 534 in Mingo.

A farmer, Mr. Borts served in the army during World War II.

The son of Fred and Eunice Couch Borts, he was born Dec. 6, 1924 in rural Mingo and was a 1943 graduate of Mingo Community High School.

He was married to Mildred L. Grubb Dec. 14, 1947 in Oskaloosa. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, August 1993
