PRAIRIE CITY - Deveer "Jack" Simpson, 75, a resident of Prairie City for 39 years, died Thursday, Aug. 16, at the Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Prairie City.

The Rev. David Mc Neeley, pastor of the Hope Assembly of God in Colfax, will conduct services. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Knoxville.

Memorials may be left at the funeral home.

Friends may call at the funeral home after noon today.

Survivors are his wife, Mary; three brothers, Clifford of Des Moines and Ernest and Melvin, both of Monroe; a sister, Beryl Kinart of Monroe; and a niece, Mary Simbro of Reasnor.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters.

Mr. Simpson, who was a member of the Hope Assembly of God in Colfax, was a foreman at the H.S. Ostlin Co. in Prairie City for 33 years, retiring in 1982.

The son of Orly and Sadie Koons Simpson, he was born Feb. 15, 1915 in Barney. He was a graduate of Rib Lake (Wis.) High School.

He was married to Mary Slykhuis Kain Aug. 29, 1937 at Winterset. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, August 1990
