Florence L. Shepley

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Funeral services for Florence L. Shepley, 82, a longtime resident of Colfax, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 21, at the Colfax Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.

Father Edward Susic, pastor of the church, will conduct services and burial will be in Colfax Cemetery.

Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Thursday at Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax.

Mrs. Shepley died Sunday at the home of her daughter, Jolene Gibson, in Colorado Springs, Colo.

Also surviving are four other daughters, Donna Mondo, of Monroe, Conn., Virginia Bowers of Loma Linda, Calif., Pauline Williams of Springfield, Mo., and Linda Stout of Mitchellville; a son, Robert of Colfax; 26 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

Also surviving are a brother, James Hamilton of Las Vegas, Nev.; and three sisters, Mae Lindell of Fort Dodge, Marie Scire of Hixson, Tenn., and Geneva Cooley of Las Vegas, Nev.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, two sisters, a son, a grandson, and a great-granddaughter.

Mrs. Shepley was a member of the Colfax Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and the church's Altar and Rosary Society.

The daughter of James and Angelina Boucher Hamilton, she was born Jan. 29, 1908 in Lehigh.

She was married to Charles Shepley Feb. 6, 1926 in Manly. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, September 1990
