LEONA P. STANBERRY

Leona P. Stanberry, 83, of Valborg Lutheran Home, 1101 Grandview Ave., died of a heart ailment Saturday at Iowa Lutheran Hospital. Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Hamilton's Funeral Home chapel, with burial in Resthaven Cemetery.

Mrs. Stanberry was born in Lebanon, Neb., and moved to Des Moines in 1945. She had worked at the Carpenter Avenue senior citizens center and was a member of River of Life Assembly of God Church.

Surviving are a son, Marvin of Palestine, Texas; four daughters, Mary Young of Des Moines, Berenice Cox of Colfax, Ruby Sutton of Lincoln, Ill., and Esther Delgado of Overland Park, Kan.; 15 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Friends may call after 4 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to her church. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, December 1990
