VINTON - Funeral services for Dorothy Tabor Stravers, 70, of Vinton, a former longtime resident of Prairie City, were held today, Oct. 19, at the Prairie City Christian Church.

The Rev. Robert price, pastor of the church, conducted services.

Her body was donated to the College of Medicine at the University Hospitals in Iowa City.

Memorials to the Iowa Lions Eye bank will be accepted.

Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Prairie City handled arrangements.

She died Thursday at St. Luke's Medical Center in Cedar Rapids.

Survivors are four sons and daughters-in-law, John and Mary of Monroe, Tom and Judy of Vinton, and Dan and Marilyn and Tim and Cindy, all of Prairie City; and nine grandchildren.

Also surviving are three sisters, Hazel Gibbs of Boone and Louise Craig and Marjorie Raaberg, both of San Diego, Calif.; and a brother, Wayne Tabor of Louisville, Ky.

Mrs. Stravers was employed by the Delta Delta Delta Sorority at the University of Iowa of Iowa City.

The daughter of Samuel Barry and Pearl Curry Tabor, she was born July 23, 1922 in Newton and was graduated from Prairie City Community High School. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, October 1992
