Des Moines - Cora Mae Stevens, 89, of Des Moines, mother of Shari (Mrs. Larry) De Cook of Newton, died Tuesday afternoon, June 21, at Park Centre Care Center in Newton.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Union Park Methodist Church at East 12th and Guthrie in East Des Moines.

Memorials in her name may be left at the Reese Funeral Home in Newton.

Cora Mae Stevens

Funeral services for Cora Mae Stevens, 89, a resident of Park Centre Nursing Home since October, 1992, and a former resident of Des Moines, will be held at 9 a.m. Friday, June 24, at the Union Park United Methodist Church in Des Moines.

Friends may call at Hamilton's Funeral Home in Des Moines after 5 p.m. today and visitation with the family will be held from 6 to 8:30 p.m. today at the funeral Home.

Burial will be in Glendale Cemetery in Des Moines.

Memorials to the church or Park Centre Nursing Home will be accepted.

Mrs. Stevens died of congestive heart failure Tuesday afternoon at Park Centre Care Center.

Survivors are two daughter, Shari De Cook of Newton and Nan Keith of Des Moines; a son, Rollin Stevens II of Dallas, Texas; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Harold Hockaday of Marion and William Hockaday of Hinckley, Minn.

Mrs. Stevens was a member of the DAR-Mayflower Chapter, Alliance to Iowa Dental Association, Blank Guild and Colonial Dames of America.

A homemaker, she was a native of Manchester. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, June 1994
