NEWTON, IA. - John L. Shuey, 68, of Newton died Tuesday of a heart ailment at University Hospitals in Iowa City. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax, with burial at the Greencastle Cemetery in Mingo.

Mr. Shuey was born in Mingo and lived in Newton for most of his life. He retired from work for the city of Kellogg.

Surviving are his wife, Lois; a daughter, Pam Faber of Des Moines; two stepdaughters, Janice Albertson of Newton and Henrietta Breeden of Tulsa, Okla.; a stepson, Jerry of Newton; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; 13 step-grandchildren; and nine step-great-grandchildren.

Friends may call after noon today at the funeral home, where the family will be present from 7 to 8 p.m. ~ The Des Moines (IA) Register, August 1990
