CHARITON - J. D. Stroud, 90, a lifelong resident of Chariton, father of Barbara Wignall and Rosemary Mc Kinstry, both of Newton, died Wednesday, July 13, at the Chariton Manor.

Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Chariton Sacred Heart Catholic Church and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Memorials to Tenco of Chariton or Progress Industries in Newton will be accepted.

Also surviving are four sons; three other daughters; two half-sisters; 30 grandchildren; and 36 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Stroud had been employed at the Hy-Vee Foods warehouse until his retirement. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, July 1994
