Ruth L. Simpson, 76, of Newton died of a heart ailment Monday at Newton Health Care Center, where she was a resident the past year.

Services were held Wednesday, and burial was in Newton Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mrs. Simpson formerly worked at the Younkers Tea room and Iowa Methodist Medical Center dietary department. She was born in Ogden and moved to Newton in 1971 from Des Moines.

Surviving are a stepson, Ernest, and a stepdaughter, Judy Kenny, both of Tucson, Ariz.; and a brother, Melvin Hall of St. Paul, Minn. ~ The Newton, (IA) Daily News, November 1994

Ruth L. Simpson

Ruth Lois Hall Simpson, 76, of 327 E. 11th St. S., died Monday, Nov. 14, at the Newton Health Care Center.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the First Assembly of God.

The Rev. Robert Stewart, a former pastor of the church, will conduct services. Burial will be in Newton Memorial Park Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Wallace-Pence Funeral Home after 4 p.m. today.

Memorials to the church will be accepted.

Survivors are a step-son, Ernest Simpson of Tucson, Ariz.; a step-daughter, Judy Kenny of Tucson, Ariz.; special friends, Robert and Vivian Schultz of Newton; and many nieces and nephews.

Also surviving is a brother, Rev. Melvin Hall of St. Paul, Minn.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Isaac, Sept. 28, 1981, two brothers, Albert Hall and Donald hall, and two sisters, Nellie Smalley and Frances Kristianson.

She was a member of the First Assembly of God.

Mrs. Simpson had worked at Younkers Tea Room and the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines for 14 years before her retirement in 1974.

The daughter of Clyde and Daisy Phipps Hall, she was born Aug. 30, 1918 in Ogden.

She attended Ogden schools, St. Paul Bible Institute, and later completed a correspondence course from Pentecostal College and also a correspondence course for dietitian and cook, receiving a dietician I award from cooking school.

She was married to Isaac Simpson Sept. 3, 1972 in Boone.

Mrs. Simpson had resided in Ogden and for 15 years in Des Moines prior to coming to Newton. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, November 1994.
