B. D. Sumpter Rites Wednesday; Dies on Sunday

Colfax - Funeral services for Benjamin Dale Sumpter, 69 of Colfax will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax.

The Rev. David Mc Nelley, pastor of the Colfax Assembly of God Church, will conduct services. Burial will be in the Restland Cemetery in Baxter.

Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Colfax American Legion.

Survivors are three sisters, Mrs. Jack (Leona) Graham of Colfax, Mrs. Ward (Hazel) Hollingsworth of Blairsburg and Mrs. Myron (Irene) Yochum of Peoria, Ill., and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and three nephews.

Mr. Sumpter, a veteran of World War II, was a retired Maytag Co., employee and farmer.

The son of Charles and Ada Dell Berry Sumpter, he was born Feb. 18, 1909 at Baxter.

He died Sunday evening at the Embassy Manor in Newton. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, August 1978
