Geraldine Samson

Geraldine Rozenboom Samson, 61, of 421 S. 5th Ave. W., a longtime resident of Newton, died Thursday afternoon, July 7, at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines of heart failure.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Community Reformed Church in Newton.

The Rev. DuWayne Hanke, pastor of the church, will conduct services. Burial will be in Newton Union Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Wallace-Pence Funeral Home after 9 a.m. Sunday and visitation with the family will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Survivors are her husband, Donald; two sons and daughters-in-law,, Rick and Tootie of rural Newton and Brian and Sherry of rural Baxter; two daughters and sons-in-law, Vickie and Jeff Farver and Beverly and Dennis Edge, both of rural Newton; and 10 grandchildren.

Other survivors are four brothers, Robert Rozenboom of Bussey, Jerry Rozenboom of Oskaloosa, Donald Rozenboom of Pella and Virgil Rozenboom of Portland, Ore., and two sisters, Jeanette (Mrs. Jerald) Dykstra of rural Monroe and Anna Rae (Mrs. Lloyd) Van Hemert of Pella.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Beverly Jean Rozenboom, in infancy.

A homemaker, she was a charter member of the Newton Community Reformed Church.

The daughter of Bert and Carrie Stouwie Rozenboom, she was born Feb. 12, 1933 in Cedar and attended Jasper County schools.

She was married to Donald G. Samson April 1, 1954 in Newton. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, July
