J. Joseph Tomlonovic

J. Joseph Tomlonovic, 85, of 500 1st St. N., a longtime resident of Jasper County, died today, Oct. 17, at the Skiff Medical Center of pneumonia.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Wallace-Pence Funeral Home.

Father Joseph Roost, parish priest of the Colfax Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, will conduct services.

Burial will be in Colfax Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 8 a.m. Tuesday and visitation with the family will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorials to the Park Centre Health Care Unit will be accepted.

Survivors are his wife, Hazel L.; a daughter, Judie (Mrs. Robert) Butin of Newton; a granddaughter; two great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Elizabeth (Mrs. Ernest) Maxwell of Collins and Helen (Mrs. Maurice) Moffitt of Colfax.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, George, John and Vincent; and two sisters, Matilda Radosevich and Jennie Menken.

Mr. Tomlonovic, a retired farmer, was a director of Rock Creek No. 4 School and a member of Amboy Grange and Jasper County Farm Bureau.

The son of John and Catherine Seday Tomljanovich, he was born March 10, 1909 in Colfax and attended rural Jasper County Schools.

He was married to Hazel Lucinda Berkenbosch March 17, 1934 in Des Moines.

Mr. Tomlonovic had resided in the Kellogg, Newton, Colfax and Reasnor communities. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, October 1994
