ROCK ISAND, Ill. - Dorothy Thomas Kennedy, 87, of Rock Island, Ill., and Port Byron, Ill., a former resident of Colfax, died Wednesday, Feb. 13, at the Franciscan Hospital in Rock Island, ill.

Wendt Funeral Home in Moline, Ill., is handling arrangements.

Graveside rites will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Colfax Cemetery.

The Rev. Michael Orthel, pastor of the Colfax United Methodist Church, will conduct services.

Survivors are a son, Donald, of Coal Valley, Ill.; a daughter, Mrs. Walter Syb of Rock Island, Ill.; eight grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are four brothers, Gomer Thomas of Newton, David Thomas of Healdsburg, Calif., and James and Arthur Thomas, both of Colfax.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John J. Kennedy.

The daughter of Arthur and Mary Jane Thomas, she was born July 26, 1904 in Sievers. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, February 1991
