PRAIRIE CITY - Funeral services for Andrew J. Steenhoek, 75, a longtime Prairie City area farmer, were held today, May 1, at the Prairie City First Reformed Church.

The Rev. Ralph Menning, retired Pella pastor, conducted services. Burial was in Waveland Cemetery in Prairie City.

Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Prairie City was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Steenhoek died Friday at the Des Moines General Hospital.

Survivors are his wife, Verna; three sons, Stan of Runnels and Jim and Ken, both of Prairie City; six grandchildren; three brothers, Hubert of Pella, Henry of Colfax and Reuben of Prairie City; and two sisters, Bertha (Mrs. Gerrit) Beyer of New Sharon and Gardena (Mrs. John) Dykstra of Wapello.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers and sisters.

Mr. Steenhoek was a member of the Prairie City First Reformed Church.

The son of John and Dena Witzenberg Steenhoek, he was born March 15, 1913 in Monroe.

He was married to Verna Bensink in Pella. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, April 1990
