Mildred Steenhoek

MONROE - Graveside rites for Mildred North Howell Steenhoek, 89, a longtime resident of Monroe, will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, June 10, at the Silent City Cemetery in Monroe.

The Rev. Roger Graf, pastor of the Monroe United Presbyterian Church, will conduct services.

Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Monroe is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Steenhoek died Tuesday evening at Embassy Manor in Newton.

Surviving is a son, James Howell of Littleton, Colo.

Mrs. Steenhoek was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Clifford Howell Oct. 26, 1945 and her second husband, Simon Steenhoek.

Mrs. Steenhoek was a member of the Monroe United Presbyterian Church.

She was employed as a cook at the Monroe Schools for several years.

The daughter of Frank and Anna Mc Colley North, she was born Jan. 17, 1899 in Fairmont near Monroe.

She was married to Clifford Howell Oct. 24, 1917 ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, June 1988
