MONROE - Hazel Faye Mc Coneghey Kane, 94, of Monroe died Saturday, March 17, at Chariton Manor.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Monroe United Methodist Church.

The Rev. Gerald Mc Gee, pastor of the church, will conduct services. Burial will be in Silent City Cemetery in Monroe.

Friends may call at the Monroe Garden Chapel Funeral Home until 8 p.m. today. Visitation with the family will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials to the church will be accepted.

Survivors are a daughter, Kathleen Ratcliff of Chariton; two step-sons, Bill Kane of Prairie City and Wayne Kane of Deltona, Fla.; a step-daughter, Martha Baer of Wheat Ridge, Colo.; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; 11 step-grandchildren; and a sister, Olive Finn of Newton.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Samuel, July 1, 1968, two step-sons, Doyle Kane and Dean Kane; two brothers, Glenn Mc Coneghey and James Mc Coneghey; and three sisters, Flossie Caldow, Thelma Pitted and Myrtle Neff.

Mrs. Kane, an employee of the Monroe Library for 13 years, was a longtime member of the Monroe United Methodist Church and the Martha and Mary Sunday school class.

The daughter of John and Viola George Mc Coneghey, she was born June 9, 1895 east of Monroe in the Tools Chapel community, and attended Tools Chapel school.

She was married to Samuel Frederick Kane March 21, 1934.

She resided in the Monroe-Tool Chapel area until 1984 when she moved to Chariton. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, March 1990
