Lily Ellen Lindsey Koppin, 79, of 803 1st Ave. E., a longtime resident of Jasper County, died Sunday morning, Dec. 16, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines of complications following open-heart surgery.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the First Assembly of God.

The Rev. Michael D. Simpson, pastor of the Assembly of God in Imlay, Mich. and the Rev. George Cuff, pastor of the Assembly of God of Newton, will conduct services. Burial will be in Newton Memorial Park Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Wallace-Pence Funeral Home after 1 p.m. today. Visitation with the family will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials to the First Assembly of God will be accepted.

Survivors are two sons, Duane and David, both of Newton; three daughters, Glory Gordon of Newton, Marlene (Mrs. Leonard) Simpson of Newton and Karen (Mrs. Ron) Sloan of Kansas City, Mo.; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are three brothers, Homer Lindsey of Chicago, Ill., Matthew Lindsey of Beaman and Bernard Lindsey of Florida; three sisters, Helen (Mrs. Don) Dunn of California, Darlene (Mrs. Grant) Willson of Ankeny and Barbara Stiffler of Newton and a special friend, Vivian Schultz.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Paul C., July 22, 1974, a brother and two sisters.

Mrs. Koppin, a member of the First Assembly of God, had been employed at the Maytag Dairy Farms for 30 years.

The daughter of Matt and Sarah Donald Lindsey, she was born March 28, 1911 in Missouri.

She was married to Paul C. Koppin in May 1934 in Newton. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, December 1990
