Lorene Strong Lynch, 76, of Heritage Manor care Center died Wednesday evening, April 3, at Skiff Medical Center of heart failure.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Wallace-Pence Funeral Home.

The Rev. E. William Kaska, pastor of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, will conduct services and burial will be in Newton Memorial Park Cemetery.

Vigil services will be held at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 8 a.m. Friday and visitation with the family will be held at 8 p.m. Friday following vigil services.

Memorials to Heritage Manor may be left at the funeral home.

Survivors are son Thomas J. of Hemet, Calif.; a daughter, Mary Ann Lamb of Colfax; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are two sisters, Fern Durkin of Leavenworth, Kan.; and Marian Gill of Wheatfield Ind.; two brothers, Earl Strong of Rushville Mo., and Charles Strong of Atchison, Kan.; and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Lynch was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Charles, a sister and two brothers.

She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

A beautician, Mrs. Lynch worked in the Gold Bond redemption center at Stockton’s Super Valu and also as a clerk at Easter's Super Valu before retiring in 1977.

The daughter of Edwin Ralph and Marion Gerner Strong, she was born Dec. 31, 1914 in DeKalb, Mo. She attended DeKalb schools and was graduate of Maryville, Mo., High School and Hagee Beauty College.

She was married to Charles Francis Lynch Feb. 20, 1939 in Boone.

Mrs. Lynch had resided Newton for 41 years. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, April 1991
