Funeral services for Irene Goben Kent Lowe, 81, of Heritage Manor Care Center, formerly of Suncrest Village, will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 11, at Wallace-Pence Funeral Home.

The Rev. Todd Schlitter, associate pastor of the Newton First United Methodist Church, will conduct services. Burial will be in Goshen Cemetery at Lucas.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 8 a.m. Wednesday and family visitation will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorials to the American Cancer Society may be left at the funeral home.

Mrs. Lowe died Monday at Heritage Manor Care Center.

Survivors are a daughter, Barbara "Bobbie" (Mrs. Joe A.) Mc Dermott of Newton; a granddaughter; a grandson; a sister, Edna Davis of the Osceola; a brother, Melville Kent of Osceola; two nieces and four nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters and her husband, Aulden Goben July 11, 1937.

Mrs. Lowe was employed at Armour's Creamery in Osceola and also Skiff Medical Center and Salmon Paints, both in Newton.

The daughter of Albert and Amelia Skinner Kent, she was born Nov. 9, 1909 in Lucas and was a graduate of Chariton High School.

She was married to Aulden Goben March 23, 1929 in Albia.

Mrs. Lowe had resided in Osceola prior to moving to Newton in 1963. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, April 1991
