Clarence Logsdon

Clarence W. Logsdon, 94, of 127 W. 9th St. N., a resident of Newton since 1920, died Sunday morning, Jan. 13, at his home of cancer.

Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Wallace-Pence Funeral Home.

The Rev. Jerry Brown, senior pastor of the First United Methodist Church, will conduct services. Burial will be in Newton Union Cemetery.

Memorials to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association will be accepted.

Survivors are two daughters, Dorothy E. Bryan of Newton and Della M. Craig of Rosemead, Calif.; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Catherine, March 20, 1982; several brothers and sisters; and a grandson, Michael Craig, who was killed in Vietnam.

Mr. Logsdon, a veteran of World War I, was gassed near Verdun in Argonne Woods.

He had been employed as a serviceman for the city of Newton for 42 years.

The son of Ebenezer and Ida Milligan Logsdon he was born March 5, 1895 in Jasper County.

He was married to Kathryn B. Dullard November 19, 1920 Des Moines. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, January 1991
