Jennie Loff

Jennie Janssen Loff, 99, of 428 S. 3rd Ave. W., a resident of Heritage Manor for the last few months, died Monday morning, March 12, and Skiff Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Reese Chapel.

The Rev. Simon Terlouw of Pella will conduct services. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, North of Newton.

Friends may call at the funeral home until time of services. Visitation with the family will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorials to the Skiff Medical Center Auxiliary or St. John's Cemetery will be accepted.

Survivors are three daughters, Helen (Mrs. Warren) Bates of rural Kellogg, Gertrude Van Sickel of Moravia and Gladys (Mrs. Wayne) Beukema of rural Newton; six grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Ger Jansen of The Netherlands.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Gerrit, in 1970, a son, Cornie, in 1938, three sisters and three brothers.

Mrs. Loff, a homemaker, was a member of the former St. John's United Church of Christ and its women's organization, and was a longtime member of the Fireside Club.

The daughter of Gerrit and Gertrude Vermeer Janssen, she was born Aug. 22, 1890 in The Netherlands and was educated in The Netherlands.

Mrs. Loff came to the United States in 1913.

She was married to Gerrit Loff May 14, 1913 on a farm near Sully.

The Loff's moved to a farm North of Newton in 1935. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, March 1990
