POLK CITY - Alice Marie Lewis, 80, of Polk City, formerly of Colfax, died Tuesday, March 6, at her home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax.

The Rev. Tom Mabe, pastor of the Colfax Baptist Church, will conduct services. Burial will be in Mc Keever Cemetery, north of Colfax.

Friends may call at the funeral home after noon Thursday. Visitation with the family will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorials to the Polk City Rescue Unit will be accepted.

Survivors are two sons, Clifford D. of Ankeny and Darwin W. of Mitchellville; a daughter, Edith Mae Shepley of Cass Lake, Minn.; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Harry, in 1982, a son, Harry J. and a brother, Howard Warrick.

She was an employee of the Maytag Co. in Newton, Gardner Nursing Home in Colfax and retired after being employed as a cook in the Polk City schools.

The daughter of Alfred and Eunice Nesbitt Warrick, she was born Sept. 11, 1909 at Oswalt and attended Colfax Community High School.

She was married to Harry Clifford Lewis Oct. 10, 1925 in Des Moines. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, March 1990
