KELLOGG - Shirley M. Parker Leonard, 62, of Box 105, Kellogg, a resident of Kellogg for 45 years and longtime resident of Jasper County, died Sunday, Aug. 11, at her home of heart failure.

Cremation followed death.

Private family burial services will be held at a later date.

Wallace-Pence Funeral Home in Newton handled arrangements.

Memorials to a fund in her name may be left at the funeral home.

Survivors are a son, Steven, of Grinnell; two daughters, Linda (Mrs. Jim) Olson of Kellogg and Gloria (Mrs. Mike) Selvog of Marshalltown; two granddaughters; two step-grandsons; and a great-grandson.

Also surviving are four brothers, Joe Parker and Marshalltown, Bob Parker of Julius, Calif., Dean Parker of Jamaica and Chuck Parker of Bouton; and three sisters, Dorothy Moranville of Grinnell, Arlene Robbins of Redondo Beach, Calif., and Maxine Mc Guigan of Apache Junction, Ariz.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Jesse, in 1986, a son, Michael, in infancy, two brothers and a sister.

Mrs. Leonard, a member of the Kellogg Historical Society, was a retired Home Health Aide through Skiff Medical Center and had worked at Midwest Manufacturing Co. in Kellogg, DeLong's Sportswear in Grinnell and the Kellogg Library.

The daughter of Fred and Mildred Wells Parker, she was born Oct. 8, 1928 in Perry and attended Perry schools.

She was married to Jesse H. Leonard June 1, 1946 in Newton. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, August 1991
