Nettie Le Grand

MONROE - Funeral services for Nettie Belle Mc Cullough Le Grand, 99, a longtime resident of the Monroe community, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 12, at the Monroe United Methodist Church.

The Rev. Jerry Mc Gee, pastor of the church, will conduct services and burial will be in Silent City Cemetery in Monroe.

Memorials to the church may be left at Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Monroe.

Mrs. Le Grand died Tuesday at the Pella Community Nursing Home.

Survivors are a daughter, Marzette (Mrs. Henderson) Reese of Otley; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Harrison, two daughters, Lois Jones and Marjorie Sherwood, three brothers, a sister, two grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.

Mrs. Le Grand was a member of the Monroe United Methodist Church, the Woman's Relief Corps and taught piano in Monroe for many years.

The daughter of William and Rozetta Tomlinson Mc Cullough, she was born July 11, 1890 in Manson. She was a graduate of Drake University in Des Moines, receiving a degree in piano.

She was married to Harrison Le Grand March 11, 1915 in Des Moines. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, January 1990
