Delmar Leaming

BISMARCK, Ark. - Delmar Boyd Leaming, 57, of Bismarck, Ark., a former longtime book review for The Newton Daily News and longtime resident of Newton, died Thursday, Nov. 15, in Hot Springs, Ark., following a brief illness.

Surviving is a brother William V. Leaming of Durham, N.C.

Leaming, an artist and writer, had been confined to a wheelchair from childhood due to a degenerative bone disease.

The son of John W. and Edna B. Leaming, he received most of his education at home, graduating from Newton Community High School in 1951 and through extension work from the University of Iowa at Iowa City.

He moved to southern Missouri in 1985, living in Thayer, Alton and Doniphan before moving to Bismarck, Ark., in 1989. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, November 1990
