James F. Lammers

AUSTIN, Texas - Funeral services for James Francis Lammers, 56, of Austin, Texas, a former resident of Newton, were held recently at the Wilke-Amey-Clay Funeral Home in Austin.

The Rev. Harry Foster and the Rev. Bill Sandifer conducted services. Burial was in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.

He died in Austin.

Memorials to the M.S. Society or the American Cancer Society will be accepted.

Survivors are his wife, Joyce; a son Michael Lammers of San Antonio, Texas, a daughter, Lisa Blair of San Antonio, Texas; four grandchildren; and brother, Norman of Aurora, Ill.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.

Mr. Lammers, a member of the Faith United Methodist Church, Disabled American Veterans and Austin Amateur radio Club, was a retired Air Force master sergeant.

He was employed as a captain with the Travis County Sheriff's Department.

A 1953 Newton Community High School graduate and athlete, he attended St. Edward's University in Austin, Texas, after his retirement from Air Force. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, June 1991
