Esther M. Lammers

Funeral services for Esther M. Petted Lammers, 88, of 310 E. 2nd St. S., a lifelong resident of the Newton community, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 16, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

The Rev. E. William Kasa, pastor of the church, will conduct services. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.

Vigil services will be held at 8 p.m. today at Wallace-Pence Funeral Home. Visitation with the family will be held from 6:30 p.m. until time of vigil services.

Memorials in her name will be accepted.

She died Monday morning at the home of her son, Bernard, in Newton.

Also surviving are another son, Thomas, of Marion; six grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Joe, in 1976, two brothers and three sisters.

Mrs. Lammers, a homemaker, was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Sacred Heart Society, Pocahontas, Women's Relief Corps, Rebekah Lodge and Newton Police Wives Association for more than 30 years.

The daughter of Thomas and Nellie Mc Dermott Petted, she was born Feb. 12, 1903 in rural Newton and was a 1921 graduate of Newton Community High School.

She was married to Joseph Nicholas Lammers Oct. 30, 1926 in Newton. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, May 1991
