Nellie F. Lewison Dies Monday; Rites Wednesday

Mrs. Lewis M. (Nellie F.) Lewison, 85, of 510 N. 4th Ave. E., a resident of Newton since 1940, died Monday morning at the Embassy Manor Care Center.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Toland-Wallace Funeral Home.

The Rev. Marvin Potter, pastor of the United Presbyterian Church, will conduct services. Burial will be in the Palo Alto Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Toland-Wallace Funeral Home after 3 p.m. today.

Survivors are two sons, M. R. "Bob" of Clinton and Richard of Gainesville, Fla.; two daughters, Mrs. Georganna Redtfeldt of Marshalltown and Mrs. Darrell (Dorris) Snook of Newton; a niece, Mrs. Steve (Nina) Wharton of Newton; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers and two sisters.

Mrs. Lewison, a member of the Christian Science Church, had been a school teacher and had worked at the Telephone Co.

The daughter of George and Nancy Ann Fivecoat Burt, she was born Nov. 30, 1892 at Indianola, was graduated from Maxwell Community High School and attended Normal College in Des Moines.

She was married Aug. 28, 1912 in Des Moines. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, June 1978
