PRAIRIE CITY - Funeral services for George R. Waddle, 81, a lifelong resident of Prairie City, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 11, at the Pleasant Hill Methodist Church south of Prairie City.

The Rev. Reg Merrill, pastor of the church, will conduct services.

Burial will be in Waveland Cemetery in Prairie City.

Friends may call after noon today at the Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Prairie City and visitation with the family will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials may be left at the funeral home.

Mr. Waddle, a retired farmer and Iowa State Capitol security policeman, died Wednesday at the Des Moines General Hospital.

Survivors are his wife, Gerdena; two sons and daughters-in-law, Ralph and Glee Ann of Pleasantville and Ronald and Yvonne of Traer; five grandchildren; and a sister, Elsie Holdgrafer of Marshalltown.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Paul.

The son of Nathan and Blanche Charls Waddle, he was born march 12, 1912 in Marion County.

He was a 1931 graduate of Prairie City Community High School.

He was married to Gerdena Carter Feb. 25, 1940 in Marion County. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, September 1993
