SULLY - Vera Sarah Brand Vos, 84, a former longtime resident of Sully and the Sully community, died Saturday, Dec. 18, at the Pella Community Nursing Home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the First Reformed Church in Sully.

The Rev. Tim J. Sigler, pastor of the church, will conduct services.

Burial will be in Sully Cemetery.

Visitation, which began Sunday, will continue today at the Van Dyk-Duven Funeral Home in Pella.

SULLY - Funeral services for Vera Sarah Brand Vos, 84, of Pella, a former longtime resident of Sully and the Sully community, were held today, Dec. 21, at the Sully First Reformed Church.

The Rev. Tim M. Sigler, pastor of the church, conducted services.

Burial was in Sully Cemetery.

Memorials to World Vision may be left at Van Dyk-Duven Funeral Home in pella.

Mrs. Vos died Saturday at the Pella Community Nursing Home.

Mrs. Vos is survived by a daughter, Mary Lou Lindahl of Anchorage, Alaska; a sister, Irene (Mrs. Ernest) Graham of Grinnell; and two brothers, Raymond Brand of Grinnell and Carroll Brand of Osborn, Mo.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, William.

She was a member of the sully Community Church and taught Sunday school and Vacation Bible school for several years.

Later she attended the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church in Newton.

The daughter of Ira and Sarah Lautenbach Brand, she was born on a farm near Sully Jan. 20, 1909.

She attended sully Community High School and normal training at William Penn College in Oskaloosa.

Mrs. Vos taught rural schools in the Sully and Galesburg areas for three years before her marriage to William B. Vos Jan. 14, 1931 near Sully.

They resided on Mr. Vos' parents' farm for 17 years before moving to Sully in January, 1949.

Mrs. Vos continued to reside in Sully after the death of her husband Nov. 10, 1977.

She moved to Hilltop Manor in Pella, where she resided for two years, and for the past two years had been a resident of the Pella Community Nursing Home in Pella. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, December 1993
