PELLA - Martha Marie De Kraai Van Wyk, 84, of Pella, a former resident of the Monroe Community, died Monday, Aug. 23.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Calvary Christian Reformed Church.

The Rev. Siebert Kramer will conduct services and burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Pella.

Friends may call at the Garden Chapel Funeral Home in Pella today and visitation with the family will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials to Hilltop North in Pella will be accepted.

Survivors are four sons and daughter-in-law, Bernard W. and La Vonne of Sully, Donald L. and Lucille of Lynnville and Dick Jr. and Linda and Harold D. and Twila, all of Monroe; a daughter and son-in-law, Ada Kay and Gilbert Van Maanen of Lynnville; 18 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Dick, Feb. 24, 1993, a son, Bernard Wayne, in 1936, a daughter, Jane Ann, in 1976, four sisters, Gradie Bowman, Anna Van Weelden, Bessie Duinink and Hazel Rosenboom, and three brothers, Arthur De Kraai, Charles De Kraai and Elmer Lee De Kraai.

Mrs. Van Wyk, who farmed with her husband, was a member of the Calvary Christian Reformed Church in Pella.

The daughter of William C. and Jennie Vos De Kraai, she was born April 22, 1910 in Marion County and attended Oskaloosa area schools.

She was married to Dirk "Dick" Van Wyk Feb. 17, 1932 in Lacey. They farmed in the Oskaloosa area for 10 years and from 1942 to 1951 in the New Sharon area. In 1951 they moved to a farm in the Monroe area, retiring in 1970 and moving to Pella. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, August 1993
