Helen Van Vark

PELLA - Helen Meulpolder Van Vark, 67, of Pella, formerly of Monroe, died Saturday, Sept. 18, at the Knoxville Area Community Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the First Reformed Church in Pella.

The Rev. James Lemmenes and the Rev. Jack Boerigter will conduct services. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Pella.

Friends may call at the Pella garden Chapel Funeral Home today and visitation with the family will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials to the Heartland Reformed Church will be accepted.

Survivors are her husband, George; four daughters and sons-in-law, Delores and Jack Boerigter of Wauseca, Minn., Lois and Larry Aldridge of Kellogg, Lori and Charlie Robuck of Knoxville and Brenda and Brad Quirk of New Hampton; two brothers, Pete Meulpolder of El Sabrante, Calif., and Raymond Meulpolder of Pella; nine grandchildren; and a great-grandson.

Also surviving are four sisters, Nellie Moore of Sacramento, Calif., and Jean Terpstra, Johanna Van Ee and Gardena Van Vark, all of Pella.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Gabriel Meulpolder in infancy.

Mrs. Van Vark, a member of the Heartland Reformed Church of Pella and the church's Willing Workers, had been employed at the Overall Factory in Pella and later at Van Gorp Hatchery in Pella.

The daughter of Stoffel and Johanna Zweedyk Meulpolder, she was born Jan. 22, 1926 in Monroe and attended school in the Otley-Pella areas.

She was married to George J. Van Vark Sept. 12, 1945. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, September 1993
