BAXTER - Arthur Vansice of Baxter, 78, a lifelong resident of Jasper County, died Saturday, June 5, at the Marshalltown Surgical/Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Baxter Congregational United Church of Christ.

The Rev. Tom Carpe, interim pastor of the church, will conduct services. Burial will be in Restland Cemetery in Baxter.

Friends may call at the Boyd-Davis Funeral Home after 3 p.m. today and visitation with the family will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Survivors are a daughter, Marlene (Mrs. Bennie) Moorman of Baxter; three sons, Norman and Charles, both of Baxter, and John of Brooklyn; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are two sisters, Georgia Sinkler of Nevada and Ida Mae Cool of Baxter; a twin brother, James; and an extended family, Loren Zachary of Ames.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Loraine, in 1984, and a brother.

Mr. Vansice was a farmer in the Colfax area from 1936 until in 1946 and a Baxter area farmer from 1946 until 1993, semi-retiring in 1976.

He was a member of the Baxter Congregational United Church of Christ, the Baxter Saddle Club and the Farm Bureau.

The son of Fred and Erla Orr Vansice, he was born Feb. 17, 1915 at Baxter.

He was married to Loraine Barnes Sept. 22, 1936 in Marshalltown. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, June 1993
