Sadie E. Trumbull

Sadie E. Esch Trumbull, 78, Careage of Newton, 2130 W. 18th St. S., a resident of Newton for the past five years, died of congestive heart failure today, Dec. 9, at Careage of Newton.

A public prayer service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at the Wallace-Pence Funeral Home.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 8 a.m. Saturday.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the First Mennonite Church at Fort Wayne, Ind.

The Rev. John King, pastor of the Beth-El Mennonite Church in Milford, Neb., will conduct services.

Burial will be in Leo Cemetery in Leo, Ind.

Memorials to the Community Heights Alliance Church in Newton, the East Goshen Mennonite Church, or the First Mennonite Church of Fort Wayne, Ind., will be accepted.

Survivors are a son, Charles G. of West Liberty, Ohio; two daughters, Mildred J. (Mrs. Terry L.) Welty of Walnut, Calif., and Alice M. (Mrs. Thomas N.) March of Newton; and eight grandchildren.

Also surviving are four sisters, Anna Mary Yoder of Atlanta, Ga., Dorothy E. Yoder of West Liberty, Ohio, and Mildred Esch and Arca Esch, both of Sarasota, Fla.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Vaughn, two brothers and two sisters.

Mrs. Trumbull, a retired secretary of Mutual Security Life Insurance Co., was a member of the Community Heights Alliance Church, 50/50 Club, Community Circle and RSVP.

The daughter of Joseph and Eva Mae Plank Esch, she was born July 4, 1915 in Atlanta, Mich., was graduated from Shipshewana, Ind., High School and a secretarial school in Fort Wayne, Ind.

She was married to Vaughn P. Trumbull Feb. 23, 1941 in Topeka, Ind.

Prior to 1941, Mrs. Trumbull had resided in La Grange and Noble Counties in Indiana, from 1941 to 1984 in Fort Wayne, Ind., and from 1984 to 1988 in Goshen, Ind. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, December 1993
