Wanda Trusler

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Wanda Bowen Trusler, 76, of Walnut Creek, Calif., a resident of rural Baxter until two years ago, died Saturday, Dec. 11, at her home of a stroke.

Cremation followed death.

Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Wallace-Pence Funeral Home in Newton.

The Rev. Ray Barnett, pastor of the Newton First Christian Church, will conduct services. Burial will be in Newton Union Cemetery.

Memorials to Hospice of Jasper County will be accepted.

Survivors are a son, James H. of Pleasant Hill, Calif.; a daughter, Dana Sparks of Baxter, five grandchildren; a brother, Lawrence Bowen of Apache Junction, Ariz.; and a sister, Peggy (Mrs. Thomas) Wilson of Royal Oak, Mich.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Clifford, Oct. 12, 1971, and two sisters, Margaret Longnecker and Norma Jean Burton.

Mrs. Trusler was a member of the First Christian Church, Jasper County Arts Council and the Farm Bureau.

The daughter of Lloyd and Bertha Thompson Bowen, she was born Oct. 29, 1917 in Des Moines and was a graduate of Newton Community High School.

She was married to Clifford W. Trusler Nov. 24, 1927 in Bethany, Mo. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, December 1993, November 1993
