Nondes L. Thompson

Funeral services for Nondes Leonia Ferguson Thompson, 100, of Newton Health Care Center, a resident of Newton since 1952, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 15, at Wallace-Pence Funeral Home.

The Rev. Kent Hulbert, youth pastor at the First Assembly of God, will conduct services. Burial will be in Sugar Grove Cemetery in rural Newton.

Friends may call at the funeral home after noon Wednesday and visitation with the family will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorials to the First Assembly of God will be accepted.

She died Monday morning at the care center of heart failure.

Survivors are a son, Clifford; 10 grandchildren, including Barbara Langerak of Altoona who was raised by Mrs. Thompson; 39 great-grandchildren; and 28 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Fay, in 1952, two sons, Burnis and Lee, two daughters, Alice Allgood and Mildred Mallory, two grandsons, two brothers and two sisters.

Mrs. Thompson, a homemaker, was a member of the First Assembly of God.

The daughter of Jasper J. and Alice A. Chivington Ferguson, she was born march 6, 1893 in rural Mingo and attended Valeria area rural schools.

She was married to Fay Albert Thompson. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, July 1993
