MOUNT UNION - Gary Spearing, 31, of Mount Union, formerly of Baxter, was killed in an automobile-truck accident Friday evening, Aug. 13, at Winfield.

Memorial services will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Evangelical Free Church in Baxter.

The Rev. Eugene Bucklin, pastor of the church will conduct services. Cremation was held and burial will be held at later date.

Boyd-Davis Funeral Home in Baxter is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials to the family may be left at the funeral home.

Survivors are two sons, Joseph and Joshua; a daughter, Nichole; and his parents, Paul and Gwendolyn Huffaker Spearing of Baxter.

Also surviving are two brothers, Paul Jr. of Baxter and Craig Allen of Melbourne; two sisters, Gloria Riggle of Lake Mills and Sheryel Anderson of Kellogg; and his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Maude Huffaker of Colonia Manor in Baxter.

Mr. Spearing, who had been self-employed, had resided in Mount Union for the past year.

He was born Nov. 21, 1961 in Newton and attended schools, including Baxter Community High School, in the Baxter area.

He was married to Betty Bowman at Ashton Chapel, north of Mingo. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, August 1993
