George A. Rexroat

MIAMI, Fla. - George Allen Rexroat of Pine Crest Nursing Home in Miami, Fla., a former resident of Colfax, died Saturday, Nov. 17, at the nursing home.

Cremation followed death.

Survivors are his children, Robert, Miriam, Linda, Malanie and Suzanne; two brothers, Wayne and Melvin; and two sisters, Alma and Dorothy.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, the former Betty Meehan, his second wife, the former June Boutchard, and two children, Lavera, in infancy, and five-year-old Raymond.

Mr. Rexroat had been employed in the Calhoun Dairy in Colfax during and after his graduation from Colfax Community High School.

He volunteered for the Army Air Corps in 1941 and was a gunner on B18 and B25 aircraft. He served in the Pacific Theater during World War II and received many awards, ribbons and medals during his 4 1/2 years of service. He was discharged in late 1945.

The son of Richard and Alma Rexroat, he was born April 2, 1921 in Ankeny.

Mr. Rexroat also had resided in Virginia. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, November 1990
