Morris D. Reynolds, 80, of Newton died Tuesday, June 19, 2007, at the Hospice of Jasper County’s Monarch Wing.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the United Presbyterian Church in Newton. The Rev. Don Freeman will officiate. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton.

Burial will be in the Newton Union Cemetery in Newton with military services by the American Legion Post 111 and VFW Post 1655. Memorials designated to the American Legion Post 111, the United Presbyterian Church in Newton or Hospice of Jasper County may be left at the Wallace Family Funeral Home.

The son of V. Foster and Irene (Gifford) Reynolds, he was born Aug. 8, 1926, in Newton. He was a 1945 graduate of the Newton Senior High School in Newton and a lifelong resident of Newton. On July 17, 1945, he was united in marriage with Lois I. Myers in Newton.

He worked for 19 years at the Maytag Company where he was a scheduler at the time of his retirement. He was a member of the United Presbyterian Church, a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 111, a lifetime member of the VFW Post 1655, 40 and 8, Emerson Hough Chapter of the Izaak Walton League, lifetime member of the Newton Elks Club and Richland Grange.

He served his country in the U.S. Army during WW II. He enjoyed all activities and friends in the American Legion and the VFW.

Survivors include one daughter, Joyce (James) Lisonbee of Magna, Utah; one son, Jeff (Teresa) Reynolds of Marion; one daughter-in-law, Sheryl Reynolds of Newton; four grandchildren, Stephanie (Manuel) Hernandez of Chicago, Ill., Elizabeth Reynolds of Chicago, Ill., Kari (Derek) Brooks of Ankeny, and Victor Reynolds of Marion; one brother, Norman E. Reynolds of Elgin, Ill.; and one sister, Mary Jean Cozad of Sioux Falls, S.D.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lois in 1997; and one son, James in 1999.
