BAXTER — Steven E. Retman, 52, of Baxter died Friday, June 22, 2007, at his home. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Howard Street Christian Church in Colfax with burial following at McKeever Cemetery. Visitation will be today from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials may be designated to the Steven E. Retman Memorial Fund

The son of Alfred A. and Lois (Miller) Retman, he was born on Aug. 25, 1954, in Newton. He worked at Maytag for 28 years. He was a member of the U.A.W. Local #997, Newton Moose Lodge and a former member of the JayCee’s in Colfax. He was an avid NASCAR fan and cherished all children.

Survivors include one daughter, Melissa Retman of Ames; one step-daughter, Tonja (Isaac) Enriquez of Altoona; one step-son, RJ Pitford of Mitchellville; five grandchildren, Andrew, Devin, Nichole, Hayden and Malkie; his mother, Lois Young of Newton; two sisters, Denice (Dale) Barnes of Newton and Deborah (Lance) Yount of Centerville, Ohio; two brothers, Michael Retman of Colfax and Craig (Shawn) Retman of Newton.
Preceding him in death were his father in 1987 and a daughter, Bobbi Jo Makenzie in 2007.
